Sean Fairchild has over 15 years of international experience in transport infrastructure planning, port and terminal investment advisory services, and international economic development. Before starting his own firm, Sean gained insight into port infrastructure development and its challenges first at the US Agency for International Development and subsequently for a Washington, DC-based consulting firm specializing in economic analysis, infrastructure planning, and project finance. While at USAID, Sean developed and managed the agency’s only market-based port infrastructure project in its history — a PPP to modernize the Port of Cap Haitien, Haiti. As a consultant, Sean has advised governments, multilateral development banks, port authorities, terminal operators, lenders, and project sponsors on a range of commercial and technical matters related to port and terminal developments on three continents. Since 2016, his analysis has supported over $1 billion USD in port investments that have reached financial closure. Sean’s technical expertise in ports and shipping includes investment due diligence, marketing and strategic analyses, facility planning for container and multi-purpose terminals, operations and productivity analyses, terminal cost and pricing strategies, master plans and feasibility studies, concession programs, legislative and regulatory analyses, and fleet forecasts. Earlier in his career, Sean worked in a research capacity at Boston University conducting analysis on economic development in sub-Saharan Africa.
In addition, Sean regularly collaborates with a team of trusted outside consultants — legal advisors, engineers, transport economists, financial modelers, and environmental specialists — to deliver a full suite of technical advisory services to clients.
